If you are searching for USDA mortgage eligibility you need to make sure your home is located in a rural area. Fortunately, you can easily verify your address against the USDA property eligibility map using a free online tool called the USDA Rural Address Checker. Just enter a local address, and the website will display a map of the area. Any land that is shaded red on the map is considered a rural area.

Unlike most urban addresses, rural routes do not contain house numbers. Instead, even and odd numbers are used in order to locate a property and a driveway on the map. This helps emergency services respond to callers in an efficient manner. It is also important for U.S mail delivery and other service providers to have a physical address in order to properly deliver goods and services to a location.

The process of obtaining an official E-911 Rural Address begins with Chapters working with their CLUPC and the NNAA office. They then do field data collection to identify homes and buildings that need to be addressed, hold public hearings to officially adopt the road names, and purchase and install street/road signs. Depending on the class of road on which a driveway will be located, Town officials may also need to approve the driveway location and issue any relevant Town permit.

Once a property has an official E-911 Rural Address, the County requires that the owner and occupant manually post this number in order to aid emergency response personnel, U.S mail delivery and other service providers in locating the property. This information is also utilized for the preparation of the county tax rolls.
